"This is one of your recent students from your Train-The-Trainer course in CA. Frankly, you have your presentation on lock and are truly awe inspiring. Brendan, it's obvious that you're really on to something great here with CCG. Having your background, being as young, talented and as bright as you are, is definitely to your advantage. Your experience gives you a high level of credibility which is especially essential in training peace officers and professionals in the field of corrections. You represent the "new guard," the future. "Old school" ways and knuckle dragging mentality no longer have a place or safe haven in DJJ. Your innovative, fresh take on tried and true principles, anchored with effective, safe techniques that are easy to learn, is like a breath of fresh air. Your emphasis on intrinsic change as opposed to punishment and compliance is right on point. You have been able to motivate even the most jaded staff to "think outside the box," to be team oriented, confident, safe and in control during crisis situations with youthful offenders. Yours is a very powerful message indeed, one that is long overdue. Have a safe trip back home. Be well." Karette F, Youth Corrections Counselor, CA
“Techniques were simple to perform, and are respectful to client and staff. It is a great new focus on handling crisis. Appropriate amount of time spent on stressing verbal intervention and safety, rather then going immediately to physical intervention. I thoroughly enjoyed the practical-role plays, and learning to apply the techniques in real situations.” P. Schneeman, Training Coordinator, VA
“Simple and respectful. The physical techniques taught will work in real crisis situations due to the ability to stabilize and control the aggressive person. It maintains the sense of security for the individual and doesn’t impede their ability to breathe, and calm down. CCG techniques are much better then those I learned in other programs.” A. Remley, Substance Abuse Counselor, VA
“I feel that I now have a full understanding of verbal and physical intervention in regards to crisis situations. I feel much more confident in my ability to handle a physical confrontation with an agitated individual.” R. Johnson, Residential Specialist, VA

“Dear Crisis Consultant Group, LLC,Per your request, I am writing to update you on my adjustment since taking your course and how I have implemented it in the classroom. I think that the most beneficial piece of information that I took away from the training was learning about the Emotional Response Levels. This has helped me to identify what stage of crisis escalating students are in and what type of intervention is necessary. I find that this has helped me head off issues that in the past, may have escalated. In addition, I have shared with my colleagues the information regarding antagonizing and disrespect (whether it be intentional or unintentional) that we, as adults, often do that worsens the behavior of our students. By offering controlled responses to my students, I have found that frequently what used to be major issues are rarely problems in my classroom these days (negative peer interactions, refusal to complete assignments, non-compliance). By using verbal responses to their aggression, every situation that arises continues to get easier and easier with time. It is as if my students have almost learned some of my de-escalation techniques. In a middle school situation where students LOVE to "feed off" of one another, I can not say enough about how great it is to keep their behaviors and aggression at bay before it snowballs into something much bigger. Thanks again for all of your great information!" J. WalkerSpecial Education Teacher, VA
“This course is much better then the ones I have taken before. It went into much more detail. I am very pleased with the physical techniques. They truly are non-invasive and put no infringement on the thoracic cavity. We look forward to going back and training our staff.” David Gowan, Director of Security and Risk Management, GA
“Good explanation of why the crisis occurs. Other workshops just deal with the physical techniques and don’t offer an explanation of the verbal, or the why’s behind the crisis behavior.” P. Dougherty, Dir. Of Teacher Development, GA
“Excellent course overall. I would recommend this course to others, it’s a 10 out of 10. The physical techniques are effective, simple and truly relate to the reality of front line workers. The techniques taught are based on real experience. Their concept of the crisis cycle was never explained in the other courses I have taken in the past.” T. Reimer, Behavioral Specialist, PA
“I am much more confident having taking this class. The techniques were much better then those I have been taught from other programs—they were simple, I don’t have to remember a lot of confusing positions like the others, and yet they are very effective and they are much safer for both patient and staff.” C. Shaffer, Behavioral Specialist, VA
“I really enjoyed the personal situations and experiences the trainers brought to the group, and the fact that they allowed us to give our own examples and ask questions related to them were very helpful. Being able to role play, and work on the verbal techniques in class was great. The training helped to raise my comfort zone with physical intervention as well as handle verbal confrontations. The physical techniques are safe, and don’t put anyone in danger. The trainers worked really well as a team to present and teach the information. This training truly makes me a more valuable employee and more confident in my job.” C. Reamer, Behavioral Specialist, VA
