Verbal And Physical Intervention Skills Training (Days One and Two- @ 16 Hours)
This course is comprised of the Beginner Course (Day One), and a second day of learning safe, non-violent,  non-painful, effective physical de-escalation techniques. These techniques are taught to be used only in emergency situations where verbal intervention alone does not stop violent behavior from occurring and there is imminent danger present.

Maintaining the safety, dignity and respect of the acting out individual and those participating in the intervention is paramount. Participants will learn to perform least restrictive control measures that stop violent, dangerous behavior immediately.

CCG believes that nearly everyone will react to a strike or attack, in a similar fashion—either ducking, cowering, attempting to use a hand or leg to block, or trying to move out of the way. As a result, CCG does not waste time attempting to teach specific blocks, or calculated and difficult movements that often are too late or painful when delivered. What we do base our training around is the body’s natural responses to an attack, the “fight or flight” reactions.

CCG will teach you how to follow up the normal, predictable, natural body response with immediate and effective techniques to stop violence, and prevent harm. We recognize the importance of having more then one staff member participate in physical intervention due to safety and liability concerns, thus our techniques are meant to be employed by two staff members present. Our techniques are so effective that one individual is able to gain control of a crisis situation, and prevent further violence from the acting out individual in seconds, if absolutely necessary.

No technique CCG teaches is based on strikes, or other aggressive motions. No technique we teach is awkward, uncomfortable, or dangerous to those persons involved. The techniques ensure safety, and do not cause pain to the acting out individual. No CCG technique requires any type of hyperextension of limbs, or stretching of other body parts.

All techniques require minimal amounts of strength to apply, while ensuring that aggressive individuals are safely aided to calm down, and regain self-control. This course also covers the various liability factors to consider when going hands-on, and discusses current Federal, State, and Accreditation guidelines to educate all persons that may be involved in crisis situations.

There is a practical review, with written and competency based testing for certification at the conclusion of the course. Certification lasts for one year.
