TERMINOLOGY
Crisis Prevention Intervention - To intervene during a hostile or other wise out of control situation using verbal and / or physical intervention skills and techniques to calm challenging or violent persons. Effective use of crisis prevention intervention often deescalates and calms aggressive persons quickly and easily.

Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - Combination of training courses developed for teaching crisis prevention strategies with intervention training.  Use of crisis prevention intervention training aids employes and organizations reduce injuries, workmans compensation claims, and liability.  

Non Violent Crisis Training - Series of training courses or curriculum designed to be non-violent in nature, using non aggressive methods and movements that do not require placing the aggressor in pain, or use of strikes, or similar harmful techniques. non violent crisis training serves as a deterrant to aggressive behavior by safely intervening during crisis situations.

Non Violent Crisis Prevention - Use of non violent, non harmful methods and techniques to prevent, deter, or otherwise stop violent behavior from occurring.  By effectively using non violent crisis prevention skills, staff members often serve to prevent situations, or emergencies from occuring in the first place.

Crisis Intervention Deescalation - Actions taken to intervene during a crisis situation, or related incident. Use of psychological, medical, physical, or other similar methods to prevent, deter, or otherwise prevent crisis situations from occurring.  Crisis intervetnion is widely accepted as the most effective means to intervene during crisis situations.  Agencies that demonstrate a willingness to adopt effective crisis intervention training philosophies and viewpoints often result in safer, and more sucessful work environments.

Crisis Courses - Curriculum based around crisis training and related crisis situations are often marketed as crisis courses.

Crisis Certification - Certification, or similar CEU (Continuing Education Units) or related award certification for completion of a crisis prevention intervention, or non violent crisis training course. Often crisis certification is provided by crisis intervention training providers upon successful completion and attendance in such course.

Crisis Plan - A detailed outline, process, or documented series of steps that individuals, organizations, or facilities would take in response to a crisis situation, or out of control sentinel event that may occur. This crisis plan would serve to educate individuals of what to do during an emergency and would likely be practiced through realistic role play, or similar crisis intervention training scenario based training courses. Such crisis plans are usually maintained in a designated area, by specified personnel who become team leaders during emergencies.

Crisis Management Training - Series of training courses geared towards the overall management of crisis situations, often from a broader perspective then that of a front line staff worker; usually from a supervisory or management level. Such crisis management training is often provided by crisis intervention training companies similar to the Crisis Consultant Group, LLC.  

Crisis Prevention and Intervention - Actively attempting to combine crisis prevention strategies, with intervention techniques and skills is usually marketed as crisis prevention and intervention.

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training - Curriculum and training designed around nonviolent verbal and physical crisis intervention which focuses on eliminating the likelihood of vicarious traumatization during an intervention resulting in less chance of long lasting psychological or emotional harm coming from the staff providing the intervention.  Therapeutic crisis intervention training has been gaining public attention though the increase of abuse investigations into human service providers, especially those that deal with children and adolescents.

Crisis Intervention Team Training - Curriculum and physical intervention training focused on team intervention, and use of a "crisis intervention team" or similar group to effectively provide crisis intervention training as a team, unit, or group. Allowing all persons in the group to provide intervention, support, or other form of assistance during the incident is commonly referred to as crisis intervention team training.  

Crisis Response Training - Curriculum based responding to immediate crisis situations using a developed crisis plan. This type of response is often calculated, and efficiently choreographed for effectiveness, teamwork, and attention to detail. Often taught using group mentality, situational responces, crisis response training is an effective means to respond to unplanned, unexpeted emergencies.

Training In Crisis Intervention - Crisis Consultant Group, LLC provides nonviolent verbal and physical crisis intervention training for organizations and individuals to better deal with crisis situations while remaining non harmful, or aggressive in their responses.

Violent Crisis Intervention Training - Techniques and training that provides escalated responses to highly aggressive attacks. Many companies fail to provide safe intervention methods to deal with violent behavior due to believing that "force meets force". These providers fail to understand that when working with others, specifically juveniles, reacting to aggression, with aggression only fosters a child’s belief that the "tougher guy" always wins in a "fight", or similar situation. Therefore, by using violent crisis intervention training, a responder is often reflecting back similar violence and aggression to the individual in crisis, resulting in harm usually being done. For military, Law Enforcement, or related environments, such techniques may be useful, though in those attempting to provide care, protection, or welfare, violent crisis intervention training is unwelcome, and detrimental. Police Crisis Intervention Training -
Law Enforcement has often been provided with crisis intervention training to deal with mentally ill, violent, or aggressive persons. Such training is often combined with use of community agencies and personnel who may be assigned to issue emergency custody orders, temporary custody orders, and protective orders. This police crisis intervention training is used to attempt to calm, deescalate, and otherwise subdue such persons in order to allow mental health, or related professionals to respond to the scene or intervene when applicable.

Non Violent Intervention - As noted earler, non violent intervention is a method of interacting during a crisis situation, by use of techniques or skills that are not based on pain compliance, hyperextension of limbs, or similar harmful methods. Such non violent intervention provides responders with the ability to intervene during a crisis and prevent, deter, or otherwise stop aggressive behavior from occurring using proven effective and safe skills and techniques.

Crisis Intervention Techniques - The specific skill set taught to responders during crisis situations that combine to deescalate, calm, and otherwise control aggressive persons during crisis situations, either considered crisis response training, or crisis intervention team training, or nonviolent crisis intervention, all similar type training makes use of  crisis intervention techniques.

Verbal intervention -
Verbal skills combined with active listening techniques to deescalate, calm, and otherwise gain verbal control of angry or aggressive persons are referred to as verbal intervention. Effective verbal intervention skills are often taught in nonviolent crisis training courses, prior to learning physical intervention techniques
